Title: CDB (Solo and Team Draft)
Post by: MuTaLiSk[DK] on October 07, 2008, 09:17:03 AM
Greetings everyone, I would like to inform you about a fairly new concept called Competitive Dota Battles aka CDB.

If you have ever wanted to play a challenging 1v1 only mid this might be something for you. Or you want to play a 5v5 match and be sure to get on the same team as your friend. At CDB it is possible to join as 1, 2 or 3 players. you will be forced to be at the same team, and ofcause, in the same game. We use a very advanced Team Equalization System in order to create fair and challenging matches but forcing players who has joined together.

At CDB we have 3 different ways of playing, the first and so far most used one is called Team Draft. It's a combination of ihcs, nihl, dota-league and dotapickup. We've taken out the best from each of them, in order to create the best gaming enviroment that we could possibly imagine.

In Team Draft, you can join a playerpool as 1, 2 or 3 players. When 10 or more is added, a match will be generated using Team Equalization. When the teams has been made, one player on each team will be choosen as captain. This person is now the leader of the team. A Hero Pool will be presented at the channel, and both captains now has to ban 1 hero from the pool, and afterwards pick 5 heroes (method 1-2-2-2-2-1) for the team. The result of this, is 2 equally strengthed teams, with well balanced heroes.
Ingame, the captain will choose which player must play which hero, and also who should buy a chicken or wards. In general, the captain leads the team, decides when to go roshan/push mid/etc. All this is communicated through ventrilo, which every player MUST join.
The final result of all these features, is a ClanWar looking match with stats and ratings worth playing for.

The 2nd system is called Solo CDB and is the newest one. In short it is a orginising system for rated 1v1 matches for everyone to practice or show off skills. You can read about it at

Everyone is welcome to use the Solo CDB System, no registration is needed at all. Only Team Draft and Trusted Captain (soon to be introduced) requires registration and 1 vouch.
At this point, it is very easy to become member at CDB, but the amount of vouches needed will slowly increase, as the amount of members increase.

Feel free to come by #CDB @ and check it all out!
