What does hex do?

Reduces a hero' speed to 100. However, speed bonuses from aura, skills, items etc. all apply.
Example: If a Centaur with Boots of Speed is hexxed, he has 150 movespeed.
If a Nerubian Weaver that uses Shukuchi is hexxed, it has 522 movespeed (since Shukuchi by default increases its movespeed to 522)
If a Spirit Breaker with Boots of Travel and Empowering Haste is hexxed, it has 205 movespeed.

Cancels channeling spells;
Instantly destroys an illusion;
Pacifies (causes an unit to be unable to attack) an unit;
Silence an unit, including item spell (if a hero turned on a spell, he can't turn it off during the hexxed period);
Stops SOME passive abilities such as:

    * Permanent Invisibility;
    * Evasion from Butterfly, Radiance;
    * Phantom Assassin's Blur

What does hex not do?

Does NOT remove any buffs.
Does NOT affect aura.
Does NOT affect armor or armor type.
Does NOT affect magic resistance.
Does NOT affect SOME passive abilites such as:

    * Backtrack (Faceless Void);
    * Counter Helix (Axe);
    * Craggy Exterior (Tiny);
    * Return (Centaur and Blade Mail);
    * Spike Carapace (Nerubian Assassin)

Other notes about hex:

Hex with Guinsoo's Scythe of Vyse always turns a unit to a sheep, while hex from Rhasta and Lion turn units to a random animal.

Commands in the DotA Map

Game Modes
Typed by the blue player (usually the host) within the first 15 seconds of the game. As a general rule, the planned game mode(s) should always be included in the game name.

-ap
Player may pick hero from all teams' taverns.

-ar
All players start off with a random hero chosen out of both taverns. (The sentinel players choose first, followed by the Scourge players).

-mr
Mode random mode. Randomly picks a mode from ar/ap/tr/regular.

-np
No Problem Mode! Haha! kiddin! No power ups mode. (No Runes)

-sc
Random super creeps are spawn every 15 minutes. Both sides will spawn supercreeps at the same time, and the type of super creep (Golem/ Ancient Hydra/ Scary Fish) depends on how strong the teams are i.e. if your hero levels are reasonably high and you have destroyed some towers you will have Scary Fish instead of Golem.

-sm
Building and tower hit points are reduced, higher rate of hero experience and gold accumulation.

-dm

If a player's hero dies, that hero type is removed from gameplay and the player chooses a new hero from the remaining selection. When a team has thirty-six deaths, it is defeated.

-as/ -aa/ -ai

All strength/ agility/ intelligence heroes mode. Only strength/ agility/ intelligence heroes can be picked.

-id

Enables random item drop upon death instead of losing money.

-lm / leaguemode

This mode is for serious matches. Every player can only pick his/ her hero within a limited time frame with a particular order, so that one team cannot choose heroes just to counter heroes of the other team. Specfifically, it has the following constraints and features:

1. It only works for 5v5s;

2. You cannot random in -lm mode;

3. The pick order is as follows:

Blue,
Pink & Light Blue (both have to pick during 20 seconds),
Teal & Purple (both have to pick during 20 seconds),
Grey & Green (both have to pick during 20 seconds),
Yellow & Orange (both have to pick during 20 seconds),
Brown

-tr

Players receive a random hero on his corresponding side (either Sentinel or Scourge), he can repick for 400 gold during the first minute of the game by using the command -repick (see below).

-sp

Shuffle Players. Someone verify what this mode exactly does, so I can add it in.

Commands available to all players

-repick
Gives you a new, random hero if you're in an -ar game and you want to change your hero (costs 400 gold). There is a limited time window for repicking (the maximum number of "repicks" is one).

-random
Selects a random hero from your side. You can repick another random hero by typing -repick, but it costs 150g. (note the different gold costs for repicking in -allrandom games and repicking when you yourself choose to -random.)

-ms
Displays current move speed (for debugging and informational purposes).

-recreate

For heroes that have the ability to undergo a metamorphosis that is not tied to the unit in the world editor map, namely Dragon Knight, Lycanthropy, Lifestealer, and Soul Keeper, where there are occasional problems with losing control of the unit. This is resolved by bringing the unit back to the 'fountain' area and typing this command. The command has a 200 second channeling time, to prevent abuses.

-unstuck
Transports your hero to the fountain after 50 seconds; it's used when you are stuck in a unmovable place (e.g. trapped in an area of trees). You cannot move while transporting.

-ma

Displays the enemy players' alias along with which hero they are currently controlling.

-disablehelp/ -enablehelp

These two commands are designed to prevent abuses of Chen's Test of Faith. If you type -disablehelp at the beginning of the game, Chen's Test of Faith will not work on you. If you type -enablehelp later on, Chen's spell will work on you.

-cs

Creep stats. Shows how many enemy and allied creeps you have killed.

-csboardon/-csboardoff

Permanently shows or removes the -cs (creepstats) on a board beneath the scoreboard.

HP Regeneration

A hero's HP regenerates over time. There are several ways to give HP regeneration to a hero.

First, all heroes have some sort of "base" HP regeneration. This is usually around 0.25 HP/ second, and is fixed throughout the game.

There are a few exceptions:

    * The morphed form of the Lycanthrope has 3 health per second but only regenerates during the night;
    * The Soul Keeper regenerates 1 health per second in morphed form;
    * The Soul Keeper regenerates 0.5 health per second in normal form but only regenerates during the night;
    * The Shadow Fiend and Ursa Warrior regenerate 0.5 health per second.

Second, heroes can buy HP regeneration items, such as Ring of Regeneration, Ring of Health, Heart of Tarrasque etc. to regain HP. For example Ring of Regeneration gives you 2 HP per second.

Third, strength also factors into HP regeneration, and the formula is HP regeneration from Strength = Strength * 0.03

Fourth, certain heroes can regenerate HP with special skills. Some examples are Dragon Knight's Dragon Blood, and Razor's Unholy Aura.

Fifth, heroes can regenerate HP from Satyr Hellcaller's Unholy Aura (4HP/sec)

Sixth, heroes can go to the fountain to regenerate HP. Fountain gives you 4% of your MAXIMUM HP per second.

Seventh, heroes can regenerate HP by getting a Regeneration Rune. A regeneration will regenerate 6% of the hero's maximum HP, for 45 seconds. If the hero is attacked during this period the effect will stop.

Eight, heroes can regenrate HP by consuming a Sapphire Water. Sapphire Water will regenerate 20HP per second, for 20 seconds. If the hero is attacked during this period, the effect will stop.

Ninth, heroes can regenerate the Tango of Essification and consume a tree. It will regenerate 5 HP per second, for 20 seconds.

Illustration on how to apply these rules:

For example a Dragon Knight with 2000 HP, 100 Strength, level 4 Dragon Blood, and a Ring of Health is standing next to the fountain together with w Satyr Hellcaller. How much HP per second will he receive?

Answer:

    * Regeneration from Strength = 100*0.03 = 3HP/sec;
    * Regeneration from Ring of Health = 4HP/sec;
    * Regeneration from Unholy Aura = 4HP/sec;
    * Regeneration from Dragon Blood = 4HP/sec;
    * Regeneration from Fountain = 2000*0.04 = 80HP/sec;
    * Regeneration from Base Regeneration = 0.25HP/sec

Altogether Dragon Knight will gain 95.25 HP/sec.

Mana Regeneration

A hero's mana regenerates over time. There are several ways to give mana regeneration to a hero.

First, most heroes have some sort of "base" mana regeneration. This is usually around 0.01 mana/ second, and is fixed throughout the game. The only exception is Goblin Techies. He has 0.02 mana/ second "base" mana regeneration.

Second, intelligence also factors into mana regeneration, and the formula is Mana regeneration from Intelligence = Intelligence * 0.04

Third, heroes can buy mana regeneration item to speed up the mana regeneration rate. For example, a void stone gives you 100% mana regeneration, which means if you have 50 Intelligence, Void Stone will double the mana regeneration from intelligence such that you're regenerating as fast as another hero with 100 Intelligence and no void stone.

Fourth, heroes can regenerate mana by standing next to the fountain. Again the fountain gives the hero 4% of his maximum mana per second

Fifth, certain heroes can gain mana by certain skills. Some examples of such is Dark Ritual, and Sadist.

Sixth, heroes can gain mana by standing close to Crystal Maiden (provided that she has learnt Brilliance) or standing next to someone who has Ring of Basilius. Ring of Basilius gives you 0.65 MP/sec, and this is FIXED throughout the game. Same for Crystal Maiden's Brilliance Aura. At level 4 it gives you 1.33 MP/ sec, and this number is FIXED, UNAFFECTED BY OTHER MANA REGENERATION ITEMS.

Seventh, heroes can regenerate mana by getting Regeneration Rune. A Regeneration Rune can regenerate 10% of the hero's maximum mana for 45 seconds. If the hero is attacked during this period, the effect will stop.

Eighth, heroes can regenerate mana by consuming Clarity Potion. A Clarity Potion can regenerate 100 mana over 30 seconds. If the hero is attacked during this period, the effect will stop.

Illustration on how to apply these rules:

For example a Rhasta with 2000 MP, 100 Intelligence, a Ring of Basilius, and a Guinsoo's Scythe of Vyse is standing next to the fountain. How much MP per second will he receive?

Answer:

    * Regeneration from Intelligence = 100*0.04 = 4MP/sec;
    * Regeneration from Guinsoo's Scythe of Vyse = 4MP/sec * 1.5 = 6MP/sec;
    * Regeneration from Ring of Basilius = 0.65MP/sec;
    * Regeneration from Fountain = 2000*0.04 = 80MP/sec;
    * Regeneration from Base Regeneration = 0.01MP/sec

Altogether, Rhasta will gain 90.66MP per second.
